Four Archer County nonprofit organizations are participating in the 24-county area fundraising program Texoma Gives, which kicks off at 6 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, with donations able to be given before the event.

Texoma Gives is an area fundraiser on Sept. 10 where, for 16 hours, donations can be provided to nonprofits in the Texoma area. Archer County joins 17 other North Texas counties and six Southern Oklahoma counties during the online giving day with over 200 registered nonprofits.

The Wichita Falls Area Community Foundation created the online platform www.texomagives.org with searchable profiles for participating organizations, and last year two county organizations took advantage of the fundraising program.

“With COVID-19 forcing organizations to cancel their spring, summer, and now fall fundraising events, many organizations are relying on Texoma Gives this year more than ever,” WFACF President Leslie Schaffner said.

The Holliday Public Library raised $7,849 and the Archer Public Library raised $535. The two libraries will participate in the event again. Also participating is the Bowman Community Volunteer Fire Department and Home Center Ministries in Holliday.

Organizations which are eligible to participate for free are 501c3 public charities who are located in the Texoma counties, which include Archer, Baylor, Clay, Childress, Cottle, Foard, Hardeman, Haskell, Jack, King, Knox, Montague, Stonewall, Throckmorton, Wichita, Wilbarger, Wise and Young. The organization cannot be a church, booster club or parent-teacher organization, but private schools, school foundations and tax-deductible scholarship funds were welcome to participate.

Registration for the fundraising event opened May 8 and ended July 31 for eligible organizations within the Texoma area.

Other surrounding area organizations which are also participating are the Olney Christian Community Center, Olney Education Foundation, P.E.T.S. low cost spay and neuter clinic of Wichita Falls; and Seymour Hospital Foundation of Baylor County.

Donations made on Sept. 10 will be tax deductible and eligible for cash prizes. Donations may be given starting at 6 a.m. and will be open until 10 p.m. The minimum donation will be $10 with no maximum donation. Early donations for the event began on Aug. 27.

To make a donation, visit www.texomagives.org on Sept. 10 where organizations can be searched and donors can make a donation to the organizations of their choosing. The Texoma Gives website accepts credit or debit card donations from their website and donors do not need to live in the Texoma area to donate.

To donate by phone, contact the Wichita Falls Area Community Foundation office from 8 a.m. through 7 p.m. on Sept. 10 at 940-766-0829, and the donation will be taken over the phone or a person may visit the nonprofit’s location to make their donations. For more information about Texoma Gives, contact the Wichita Falls Area Community Foundation at 940-766-0829.
