Wichita and Wilbarger counties are Primary and Archer and Jack Counties are Contiguous. These counties were declared eligible for Farm Service Agency (FSA) disaster emergency loans on March 7, 2020 and continuing. Generally, that means that farmers who have lost at least 30 percent of their production caused by Drought Fast Track occurring November 1, 2019 and continuing are eligible for FSA loans. Proceeds from crop insurance are taken into consideration when determining eligibility.

FSA Farm Loan Manager, Matt Eakin, is urging farmers who are interested in receiving an emergency loan to submit their applications into FSA as soon as possible. Matt Eakin said, “We hope farmers will get their applications in early rather than waiting until near the deadline, which is November 7, 2020. The longer they wait, the more chance there is for long delays. If the applications come in early, we can avoid backlogs and speed up the process.”

The FSA office is at 5015 College Dr. Rm 1 in Vernon, TX 76384. The telephone number is (940) 553-4394 ext 2.
