The public is cordially invited to attend the Memorial Day ceremonies hosted by the Scotland-Windthorst Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 2676 and Auxiliary, Monday, May 27, 2019. The first ceremony is at the Veterans Memorial at St. Boniface Catholic church cemetery in Scotland, Texas from 9:00-10:00 A.M.
St. Mary’s Catholic church grotto in Windthorst, Texas is the site of the second ceremony from 11:00-12:00 (noon).
The activities will honor the memory of Windthorst veterans Leo Blake (WWII), Paul Himmels (Korea) and Gary Johnston (Iraq) and Scotland veterans Jacob Prescher (WWII), John Simons (WWII) and Carl Hargis (WWII) as well as all U.S. service members who have given their lives in defense of our nation. This ceremony will be a fitting tribute to their military service and sacrifice that have ensured our freedom and security. Along with VFW Post 2676 and its Auxiliary members, the American Legion Riders Post 202 and Hirschi High School JROTC will participate.
To facilitate and assist in our ceremony the public is requested to bring personal lawn chairs for seating.
