WINDTHORST - The Windthorst Trojans rolled to a 63-13 Homecoming victory over the Ranger Bulldogs as they scored early and often. The offense rolled up over 500 yards of offense. They had over 400 yards at halftime and with a 50-7 lead, the second half was played with a running clock. Bryson Jackson put Windthorst on the board on the third play of the game. He took Cy Belcher’s screen pass 41 yards for a touchdown with the help of two great downfield blocks by linemen Andrew Scheffe and Eduardo Llamas. Cy Belcher booted the extra point through the uprights for the Trojan’s first kick conversion of the season and a 7-0 lead.

Tied at seven, Ethan Belcher carved through the Bulldog defense on a 44 yard touchdown jaunt. Cy Belcher’s kick made it 14-7 with 9:56 left in the first quarter. Ethan Belcher finished with 60 yards on the ground on three carries. Big Blue’s defense forced a three and out. They next possession started at their 14 yard line. Five plays later Kyle Wolf hauled in seven yard touchdown pass from Cy Belcher for a 20-7 lead. The Trojans final first quarter touchdown came on an eight yard touchdown reception by Awtry Blagg for a 27-7 lead following Cy Belcher’s point after kick. Blagg ended the night with 64 yards on four catches.

The lead swelled to 29-7 with 9:10 left in the first half, as the Bulldogs snapped the ball out of the end zone for a safety. Following the safety, the Trojans took over at the Bulldog 48 yard line. Five plays later Wolf caught a pass in the flat, slipped out of a tackle, bulled his way through a tackle attempt at the five yard line and scored his second touchdown of the night on a 17 yard catch and run. Wolf finished with five catches for 61 yards. Max Owen kicked the extra point for a 36-7 lead with 6:57 left in the half. Ethan Belcher forced a Bulldog fumble on their next possession and Gage McAnally recovered at the Bulldogs 36 yard line. Cy Belcher hit Gavin Steinberger on the slant route for an 11 yard touchdown reception. Cy Belcher kicked another point after to increase the lead to 43-7.

Following another three and out by the Windthorst defense, Cy Belcher tossed his sixth touchdown pass of the night to Gage Gillispie, who took the jet pass to the Trojan sideline, then cutback to the middle of the field and sprinted into the end zone untouched for 44 yards. Owen’s extra point gave the Trojans 50 points in the first half.

The second half was played with a running clock. The Bulldogs ate up the entire third quarter scoring on the last play of the quarter to make the score 50-13. Jackson returned the ensuing kickoff 41 yards to the Ranger 39 yard line. Clay Hoff was the workhorse on the next drive as he touched the ball on all 6 plays, scoring on a yard run. Owen’s point after kick increased the lead to 57-13 with 7:40 left in the game. Chance Pennartz took out his pitching wedge on the ensuing kickoff, hitting the ball high with lots of backspin. When the ball hit the turf, it spun back toward the Trojans as the Bulldogs watched. Tel Stubblefield was johnny on the spot as he fell on the ball giving Windthorst possession at the Bulldog 31 yard line. Four plays later Logan Cope handed the ball off to Tyler Etheredge for a one yard touchdown run. Owen’s extra point was the final score of the game. The Bulldogs muffed the ensuing kickoff and Zane Hackley recovered. Windthorst then let the remaining four minutes run off the clock to end the game. Hunter Herndon and Orlando Aldaba led the defensive charge with eight tackles each. Connor Cullar contributed seven stops, while Scheffe and Hoff each had six. With the win the Trojans move to 5-2 on season and 2-0 in district. They will travel to Santo to face the Wildcats who are also 2-0 in district play. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 pm.
