The University Interscholastic League (UIL) released a statement via social media recommending schools consider closing all summer activities until Monday, July 13.
The organization issued the statement in anticipation of the July Fourth holiday and the potential for increased social interactions which could spread COVID-19.
“UIL will continue to work with state officials and monitor CDC and other federal guidance to determine any potential modifications to UIL summer guidelines,” the statement reads.
Archer City ISD and Holliday ISD are following the recommendation and are suspending workouts until Monday, July 13.
Windthorst ISD has elected to push forward and continue workouts.
“We feel it is in our best interest to continue our normal workouts with continued emphasis on hygiene and cleanliness,” Trojans head coach Chris Tackett said.
As of print time, Archer County has 10 known cases of COVID-19 with seven known to be recovered.
