Archer City ISD Cafeteria goes on the road to feed students

Teacher Julie Wuthrich prepares to deliver meals to Archer City ISD students

Monday through Friday a crew of 8 teachers in the ACISD school system load up breakfast and lunch sacks for delivery to students hold up at home due to Governor Abbott’s directive to close schools until April 3. Classes can resume on April 6, unless there are additional extension of closure. ACISD plans to continue the feeding program as long as food and funding make it possible during periods of school closure

Daphne Coleman, Cafeteria Manager, and her staff prepare and package the meals. Amy Huseman, Archer City Elementary Principal, coordinates the delivery effort. The program is open to all students, but must be requested with the completion of the appropriate form. Parents should have received the COVID-19 Student Contact Form which addressed the program.

As of last Thursday, 95 students were on the roll for the breakfast/lunch package. Huseman said, “We’re going to do continue deliveries as long as we have the food. As long as the trucks deliver, we will deliver meals.”
