Archer City street repair in the works

The last issue of the Archer County News had a City of Archer City public notice concerning bids for street repair. Archer City streets are often the target of citizen complaints. The work currently up for bid with street contractors covers over a mile of streets generally between Burkett Park and the Archer City High School. Streets listed in the bid specification include the 300 and 400 blocks of West Mesquite, the 500 block of South Mulberry, the 400 block of West Cottonwood, and the 400 block West Cherry. The work represents the current years budgeted funds for repair, but City officials contemplate significant investments in streets in the next budget cycle.

Bids for work proposed will be opened next Monday and the City Council will review the bids for approval at the City Council Meeting scheduled for August 15. Assuming acceptable bids are received work hopefully will begin within the next 30 days.
