Archer County inmate escapes custody

Luke Allen King, an inmate at the Archer County Jail, escaped last Tuesday as he was being transported to Wichita Falls by an Archer County Jailer for a medical appointment.

According to Archer County Sheriff Beesinger, when the Jailer arrived at the destination for the inmate’s appointment, the Jailer went to let him out of the back of the car when King kicked the door open knocking the Jailer backwards between the patrol car and another car. He then jumped out and ran away in the vicinity of Van Buren and 6th Streets, off Seymour Highway. He was apprehended in less than two hours behind a Subway on Seymour Hwy.

Sheriff Beesinger said after he was captured, he was taken to the hospital because he had broken the bones in his hand getting out of the cuffs.

Beesinger said he will be charged with Escape, another felony, adding to his 120 months of Federal time already awaiting him. He has been an inmate in the Archer County Jail since August 15, 2019 while waiting to be transported to Federal Prison.

Sheriff Beesinger is requesting that he be held in the Wichita County Jail since he is an escape risk.
