Archer County News expands staff

Will Edwards joins the staff of the Archer County News as the new sports editor of the publication.

Edwards began the position on Monday, June 22. The 2009 graduate of Holliday High School began his sports writing career as an intern in the Texas A&M University Sports Information office from January 2012 until graduating in August 2014. During his time in Aggieland, Edwards served as the official media contact for the SEC champion men’s tennis program while assisting with media relation efforts in football, volleyball, basketball, soccer, baseball and softball.

Upon graduating, Edwards served as an intern in the Athletic Communications office at the University of Memphis. He received awards from CoSIDA’s Publication Contest for his work on the 2014 Volleyball Media Guide while also covering the Tigers baseball program in the spring.

Edwards left Memphis in March 2015 for a full-time position with the Sugar Land Skeeters where he was tasked with covering the minor league baseball team in the Houston area. He provided daily game notes and recaps while assisting with gameday operations. He handled all the media relation efforts when the team signed former MLB All-Star Rafael Palmeiro for the final weekend of the season.

Edwards has spent the last four years working in the sports information offices at Eastern New Mexico University (2016-18) and Midwestern State University (2018-19).

“I’m extremely excited and blessed to be able to return to the Archer County Community. I want to thank Luke and Dan Haile for providing me this opportunity,” Edwards said. “I look forward to working with Nathan and providing quality content for the area. I’m ready to hit the ground running this fall covering the Wildcats, Trojans and Eagles.”
