The Archer County News entered into contract Monday to sell the paper to Mr. Blake Gumprecht. We had planned on waiting until closing to make the announcement, but because business transactions are in the works with different agencies, we did not want rumors to start and our readers left with any false information.

Jerry and I are ready to retire and enjoy life more with family and each other.

We are very fortunate that Mr. Gumprecht chose the Archer County News to purchase from all community papers in Texas he could have obtained. He sees the Archer County News as a paper he can lend his expertise to and continue to grow it into an even stronger paper.

Gumprecht recently rented a home in Scotland until he can find suitable housing in Archer City where he plans to live eventually. He is excited about becoming a part of the Archer County community.

I hope all of you will continue to support the Archer County News and Blake Gumprecht.

Closing is set for January 2, 2020. Until then, Mr. Gumprecht will be at the Archer County News much of the time preparing and observing. Feel free to stop by and meet him.

You will hear more from us with more detail in the next couple of weeks.

For now, Jerry and I would like to thank you for the support you have given us over the years. We are so blessed to be a part of this community and the wonderful people, our readers and advertisers, we have been associated with over the years.

The Archer County News is alive and well and fortunately will continue in good hands.
