The election calendar for 2020 has been full of party primaries and there is a lot of anticipation as the Nov. 3 General Election approaches. However, Governor Abbott, by Special Order, has established an additional election day to fill the seat vacated by District 30 State Senator Pat Fallon. Fallon resigned to run for a U.S. Congressional Representative office.

The six candidates running for the position are Drew Springer, Chris Watts, Craig Carter, Andy Hopper, Shelly Luther and Jacob Minter.

Early voting for the Special Election will begin next Monday, Sept. 14. Early voting will continue through September 18 and resume on Sept. 21. The last day for early voting will be September 25. Early voting is available in three locations. They are Archer County Courthouse Annex, 112 E. Walnut, Archer City; Holliday City Hall, 110 W. Olive, Holliday; and Lakeside City Municipal Building, 42 Donna Street, Lakeside City. Early voting locations are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

September 29 Special Election day voting will be available in six locations. Those locations and a sample ballot are available in notices from election officials in the Archer County News on page 6.
