A plan for a new mural on the west wall of the Thrift Shop will be an exciting community effort as well as a great fund-raiser for Christmas on the Square. Our local artist, Kathy Morrison, responsible for painting Branded the horse at Walsh Park, has come up with another creative idea to involve the community.

Morrison said, “The new mural will represent Archer City, and I know everyone will be pleased.”

But what it is will remain a mystery until YOU take your part in painting a square on it. On October 12th at 9:00am, wear some clothes you don’t mind getting a little paint on, bring $25 dollars for every square you want to paint. You will have grids and guidelines, and you do not have to have any artistic ability. All paints and brushes will be provided. When finished, your name will be signed to your square and you will be a part of history made in Archer City for years to come.

When all the squares are finished, the new mural will reveal itself.

The money will go toward new toy soldiers to be placed around the Veteran’s Memorial on the Archer County Courthouse lawn for Christmas on the Square. This event continues to grow each year, bringing the Spirit of Christmas to all who attend.

Morrison said there will be 100-150 squares available. If you want to reserve yours in advance, there are two opportunities.

Go to the Archer Visitors Center on September 28th from 9:00am to noon and reserve your square. You must bring cash or check.

1. Make your check out to Wichita Falls Area Community Foundation

2. On the memo line, write Archer Visitors Center

3. Mail the Check to:
