Steven Ray Thomas was charged with Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon family member PC 22.02 (B) (1) for assaulting a child under the age of 14 causing seriously bodily injury and using a deadly weapon. He was also charged with Injury to a Child and Interfering with public duties.
Sgt. Matthew England was contacted about the assault. When he and Deputy Franklin arrived at the residence in Archer City, Thomas had barricaded himself inside a room of the residence. After repeated verbal commands by ACPD to come out, England kicked in the door. Still refusing to obey commands, he was tased and taken into custody.
Thomas complained of back injury and was taken to United Regional where he was cleared by medical profession with no injuries. He was transported to the Archer County Jail. Judge R. Joe Aulds placed bonds totaling $190,000 on Thomas.
