The COVID-19 pandemic has robbed the Windthorst High School 2020 Senior class of all the traditional and scheduled activities in the spring of 2020. The graduation ceremony is no exception. Superintendent Lonnie Hise said earlier they were working Plans A, B, C, & D. Plan A was what appeared to be an acceptable arrangement to meet guidelines with a ceremony in the gym. On May 5 the plan had to be changed based on guidelines issued by the Texas Education Agency Commissioner Mike Morath. He and Governor Abbott outlined acceptable protocol for graduation and Plan A was outside the guidelines.

At 7pm this Sunday evening on the Windthorst ISD Football Field officials of the district will make an effort to honor Windthorst High School Seniors with as normal a ceremony as possible. The goal will be to honor students in the safest way possible while staying in compliance with the intent of Governor Abbott’s Open Texas requirements.

Only ticketed parents and friends will be allowed in the stadium. Each senior will be allowed 8 non-transferrable invitations for seating in designated areas. The protocol and specific details can be found on the Windthorst High School Facebook page.
