“World” concludes Barber Shop Plays

Jedidiah (Gary Beesinger) and Trudy (Lydia McWhorter) admire the revolutionary new Cyclone Breeze vacuum cleaner.

The World According to Roy and Jesse wraps up its production run this week with Saturday’s performance marking the end of Jim Black’s popular barber shop series of plays at the Royal Theater in Archer City.

“Time sure flies, “says the playwright. “It’s hard to believe this is the seventh production with this cast and these characters. We’ve been through a lot together. A lot of time and hard work has gone into this and it’s not always been easy. We’ve shared a lot of laughs together and tears. But knowing people have greatly enjoyed and appreciate what we’ve done makes it all worthwhile.”

Patrons who have seen all or most of the series might feel a tinge of sorrow at having to say goodbye to these characters who’ve become like old friends. That said, Roy, Jesse, Joe, Clifford, Ted, Melvin, Violet, Sheriff Harris, Betty Jack, Trudy, Hank, Alvin, Jedidiah and Banjo wish to say thank you and bid you farewell. “Arrivederci, Everybody!”

The final play dates are Oct. 10 & 12. (There is no show on Friday Oct. 11.) Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online at www.royaltheater.org or by calling 940-574-2489. They will also be available at the door each night. All seating is General Admission. Doors open at 6:30 and Curtain is at 7:30.
