George Hoff

George Hoff, a lifelong resident of Windthorst, Texas, died on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at the age of 89 in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City with a Celebration of Life Mass to be held on Saturday, December 7, 2019, at noon at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Windthorst, Texas with Rev. Michael Moloney, Pastor of St. Mary’s and St. Boniface Catholic Church, officiating.

George was born on April 27, 1930 to Ernest and Pauline Zotz Hoff. He graduated from Windthorst High School in 1948 and married Ida Schroeder on August 16, 1950 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Windthorst.

As a young man, George played baseball, coached Little League, watched grandsons and great-grandsons play, and was an avid Texas Rangers fan. He worked in the oilfield most of his life and retired from Bridwell Oil Company at the age of 70. He loved to hunt and fish and play dominos with his family and friends. His retirement was spent farming and ranching and raising bucking bulls under the Happy H brand. George’s Pride was his most successful bull competing in Madison Square Garden, Hawaii, and the PBR National Finals in Las Vegas.

Survivors are his wife Ida of the home and his four children, Gwen Teichman and husband James of Scotland, TX, Cleta Keller and husband Dan of Alpine, AZ, Marlene Jones and husband. Roscoe of Wichita Falls, TX, and Wes Hoff and wife Linda of Windthorst, TX; eight grandchildren, Brandi George and husband Joe of Windthorst, TX ,Keith Teichman and wife Cindy of Scotland, TX, Lance Coleman of Chandler, AZ, Ben Keller of Oakland, CA, David Vaccarella of Wichita Falls, TX, Leslee Henning and husband Kris of Burleson, TX, Sterling Hoff of Wichita Falls, TX, Berkley Tressler and husband, Bailey of Windthorst, TX and step-grandsons Philip McClung and wife Ashley, and Eric McClung and wife Tori all of Austin, TX; twelve great-grandchildren, Corey George and wife Marissa of Windthorst, TX, Zack George and McKenna George of Wichita Falls, TX, Alyssa Teichman of Abilene, TX, Lyndon Teichman and Kacee Teichman of Scotland, TX, Austin Coleman of Scottsdale, AZ, Wyatt Henning, Jolee Henning, and Oliver Henning of Burleson, TX, and Braxton Tressler and Kolsyn Tressler both of Windthorst, TX; and two great-great-grandchildren, Eli and Jensen George of Windthorst, TX. George is also survived by his brother Marvin Hoff, Sr. and wife Elsie, brother Ernie Hoff and wife Billie, and sister-in-law Frances Hoffman all of Windthorst, TX; sister-in-law Ida Mae Schroeder of Wichita Falls, TX and many extended family members.

George was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, Rose and Albert Schroeder, and brother, Al “Toddy” Hoff and wife Cathy, along with Schroeder brother and sister in-laws and numerous other family members.

The family would like to thank the nurses and the staff of Intrepid Healthcare, The Gables at Rolling Meadows, and Hospice of Wichita Falls for the wonderful care and kindness extended to George. In addition, we will forever be grateful to his daughter, Cleta, who lovingly provided 24-hour nursing care over the last several months.
