James Ronald “Ronnie” Maxwell

James Ronald “Ronnie” Maxwell, 71, passed away on December 7, 2019 in a Wichita Falls nursing home.

Graveside services were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2019, in the Archer City Cemetery with Jerry Phillips of Archer City officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.

Ronnie was born on September 27, 1948 to Jesse Robert Maxwell and Oleta Baker Maxwell in Wichita Falls, Texas.

In 1968, he graduated from Holliday High School. During the Viet Nam War, Ronnie proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy where he was wounded and was awarded a Purple Heart.

He and Sharon Griffith were married September 19, 1968 in Holliday, Texas. She preceded him in death on June 17, 2012.

Ronnie enjoyed sports and was recognized for his contribution to the football program in Holliday where he attended school. He worked in the oilfield throughout his life.

Ronnie is survived by his mother, Oleta Rotz of Wichita Falls: son, Joey Maxwell and wife, Callie of Iowa Park; brother, Jack Whitsitt and wife, Kim of Archer City; granddaughters, Marnaigh Maxwell and Marlee Maxwell and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ronnie was also preceded in death by his father, Jess Maxwell and brother, Eddie Bob Maxwell.

The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Road, Wichita Falls, Texas 76310.
