Archer City Lady Cats push 4A Iowa Park Lady Hawks to five sets

Archer City was unable to hold on to an early two-set lead in a five-set loss to Iowa Park on Saturday, Sept. 5, falling 3-2 (29-27, 29-27, 19-25, 16-25, 9-15).

After a perfect 4-0 start, the Lady Cats have dropped four straight, albeit all four losses are to schools in a larger classification.

Junior Mallory Maxwell logged a team season-high 19 kills in the setback.

Senior Delaini Hanna added 12 kills to power the Lady Cats offense. Defensively, junior Aspyn Huseman racked up 22 digs to anchor the back line.

Junior Maddie Lopez (20 assists, 15 digs) and sophomore Jill Liles (21 assists, 14 digs) each recorded a double-double.

The Lady Cats return to play on Tuesday, Sept. 15, on the road against Wichita Falls Hirschi. First serve against the Huskies is slated for 5 p.m.
