Getting to know: Wildcat volleyball’s Krissa Johnson

Krissa Johnson

We caught up with Archer City High School head volleyball coach Krissa Johnson this past week and asked a series of rapid-fire questions to help the community get to know the Wildcats’ leader on the hardwood.

Johnson saw an illustrious prep career at Denver City High School before earning a scholarship to Wayland Baptist and then Midwestern State. She is one of seven members in the Mustangs’ 1,000-kill club and boasts two of the top 12 seasons with 387 and 370 kills in 2007 and 2006, respectively.

With five years at ACHS, Johnson began her coaching career at Monterey High School before moving to Archer City.

“My favorite coaching memory is going to state with the AC Lady Cats,” Johnson said.

In her spare time, Johnson enjoys playing the guitar and drums along with cruising around Archer City in the golf cart with her dog Cooper. Additionally, she raves about her gaming skills in Call of Duty Warzone.

A movie buff, she ranks Dirty Dancing, Remember the Titans, Love and Basketball, Tombstone and the Sweetest Thing among her favorites.

“My favorite athlete is the G.O.A.T (Greatest of All Time) Michael Jordan,” Johnson added.

For TV shows, Johnson tunes in to Guy’s Grocery Games, Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives as well as Chopped.

Lastly, Johnson chose Charlize Theron as the actress that would play her in a movie about her life.
