Holliday’s Gillit sisters and other Lady Eagles get 8-3A honors

Marshal Gillit (L) was selected Pitcher of the Year in District 8-3A and her sister Taylor Gillit (R) was named First Team All-District at catcher.

Marshal Gillit, a junior, was named Pitcher of the Year by the District 8-3A softball coaches. Her courageous pitching performances while very sick no doubt was a factor in her selections. Her sister, Lady Eagle sophomore Taylor Gillit, was named First Team All-District at catcher sharing the honor with Carrington Davis, a senior from Bowie. For the second straight season, Henrietta’s Haleigh Hogan was the 8-3A Most Valuable Player.

The Gillit sisters lead the Holliday Eagles to a share of the 8-3A district title with Bowie and City View. Retiring Holliday Coach, Keith Nichols, and his staff were selected as Coaching Staff of the Year. Ambri Harrigal, a senior, was name Co-Defensive MVP. The other two named in the Defensive MVP category were City View’s Mackenzie Cave and Henrietta senior, Kylee Halter.

Freshman Co-Newcomers of the Year were Lady Eagle Evelyn Perkins, City View’s Presley Maples, and Bowie’s Addie Farris.
