The Windthorst Trojans moved to 3-0 in district play with a 49-21 pasting of the Alvord Bulldogs. Koy Pennartz opened the scoring for the Trojans on a 46-yard run on the fourth play of the game. Nathan Bales' drop kick was good for a 7-0 lead with 10:54 left in the first quarter. The Big Blue Defense forced a three and out on Alvord's opening possession. The ensuing snap went over the Bulldog punter’s head and bounced into the end zone where Pennartz alertly fell on it for his second score of the night. Less than two minutes into the game the Trojans led 13-0 with 10:12 to go in the first period.
The Bulldogs cut the lead to 13-7, but Hunter Wolf scored on a nine-yard run with 7:25 left in the half to make the score 19-7. The ensuing kickoff went over the returner's head and a whole host of Trojans were there to make the stop; however, the ball came free and Awtry Blagg recovered at the ten-yard line. Wolf connected with Ulises Andablo on the next play on a ten-yard strike for the score and a 26-7 lead.
Rafael Llamas intercept a pass at the Bulldog 27. Five plays later Nathan Bales made a diving catch in the end zone of a Wolf pass for a 33-7 lead. Alvord cut the lead to 33-21 at halftime, but the second half belonged to the Trojans.
On Alvord's opening possession of the second half they were forced to punt after three plays. The snap again went over the punters head and into the end zone. The punter was able to regain possession of the ball but Corben Reynolds was there to make the stop in the end zone for a safety making the score 35-21 with 10:17 left in the third quarter. Following the free kick, the Trojans took over at their 49-yard line. Three plays later Colton Bates took a swing pass from Wolf 18 yards to the house for a 42-21 lead with 9:28 left in the third quarter.
Wolf finished the night with 306 yards passing. Nathan Bales led the Trojans with six receptions for 52 yards, while Cash McIlroy led the yardage category with 73 yards on five catches. Blagg contributed five catches for 52 yards. Pennartz completed the scoring with an eleven-yard run with 16 seconds left in the third quarter. Pennartz finished with 127 yards on eleven carries. Reynolds lead the defensive charge with 18 stops while Fabian Vazquez finished with 10 stops. Sam McQuerry and Pennartz both had 8 tackles. The Trojans travel to Seymour Friday night to fight for the District 5-2A Championship.
