Darrell W. Byrne

Darrell W. Byrne, 87, of Olney, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2022 at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital.

Darrell was born on June 11, 1935 in Bitter Creek Community, Texas, the son of Dewey and Gladys (Hubbard) Byrne. He married Betty Hanson on Aug. 14, 1965 in Wichita Falls, and she preceded him in death on June 26, 2022. Darrell liked fishing and hunting. He enjoyed fixing things and piddling in his garage. Darrell took pleasure in collecting antiques. Darrell was a lifelong independent oil producer and also worked at Baker Oil Tools in Olney, Ill. Darrell was a member of the Shriners, a 32nd Degree Mason, and president of the Shriners Motor Patrol. Darrell had a very giving heart and would help people in any way that he could. He will be missed by all those that knew and loved him.

Darrell is survived by his son, Johnny (Grace) Byrne of Erick, Okla.; son, Rick Terry of Newton; daughter, Cathy Whitley of Newton; grandchildren, Grant Terry, Jessica Adams, Jordan (Brittany) Wilson, and Mark Byrne; 6 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild; sister, Everette (Ron) Carroll of Iowa Park,; sister-inlaws, Peggy Hoover and Pat Robertson; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, Jack William, Kenneth, and Gene Byrne; step-son, Benny Joe Terry; and grandchildren, Janette Terry and Jason Terry.

A memorial service for Darrell will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Kistler- Patterson Funeral Home in Olney,Ill. with a visitation beginning onehour prior.

Following the service, Darrell and his wife Betty will be interred at Haven Hill Memorial Gardens in Olney.
