Sharon S. DuPont, 73, of Archer City, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Nov. 10.

The family will have a private ceremony in remembrance of this precious woman.

Sharon was born on Dec. 25, 1946 in Childress to the late Milton & Sue Fish. Sharon grew up in Wichita Falls and attended WFHS.

As a young woman, Sharon was a brave soul. She set out to see what this big ol’ world had to offer, a young free spirit. Sharon never met a stranger. She landed in Leadville, Colo. where she met the love of her life, the late Gilbert E. DuPont, Jr. He captured that rebellious free spirit & married her in 1971.

Family brought her back to Texas where she & “Gil” planted their roots and raised their family.

After several years of cutting and styling hair for free, she decided to get her cosmetology license. She figured why not get paid for doing something you love! Which led to the opening of “DuPont Salon”. She fulfilled her dream and retired 30 years later. She enjoyed her retirement for all the extra time she was able to spend with her only grandson, her pride and joy!

Sharon gave so much of her time in helping others. It didn’t matter day or night, she would be there when needed. When asked why she goes out of her way for others so often, her reply was simple, “I still remember how it feels to have no one or nothing. I wouldn't wish that for anyone.” Sharon was a very selfless woman who loved her family, friends, animals and her granddogs.

The beloved mother & Nanny is survived by her daughter, Brandy N. Bueno and husband Don; son, Gilbert E. DuPont, III and wife Jennifer. One grandson, LCpl Lathum A. DeLuna.

Sharon was preceded in death by her late husband, Gilbert E. DuPont, Jr.; parents Milton and Sue Fish; daughter Virginia Dawn Brannon; granddaughter Tomilee DeLuna.

Sharon was an animal lover. She would have given a home to every animal if she could have. Her family asks in lieu of flowers, make a donation of time or money to the Wichita Falls Humane Society.
