Vera Ann Schenk, age 92, of Scotland, Texas passed away Monday, Feb. 22, in Wichita Falls.

Vigil Service and Rosary will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Scotland immediately followed by the Mass with Rev. Michael Moloney, Pastor of St. Mary’s and St. Boniface Catholic Church officiating. Interment will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.

Vera was born July 5, 1928 in Rhineland, Texas to the late Joe and Cecilia Teichman Hoffman.

Vera was married to the love of her life, Leonard G. Schenk on Sept. 2, 1946. To this union were born Louise Sharon, Leonard Jr. and a still born baby. They were married seventy-four years. Leonard Sr. preceded her in death on Nov.11, 2020.

Vera and Leonard loved to travel. They visited relative all over the United States and was with a tour group that went to Alaska and Hawaii. Vera and Leonard loved to dance to country swing music. Vera loved her rose bushes.

Vera was the owner and operator of Payless Grocery in Scotland for twenty-five years. She was a long-time member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a life-time member of the Altar Society of St. Boniface Church.

Vera was recognized as Scotland Outstanding Older Texas. She Co-Authored the Fifty-Year History of Scotland and was the Archer County News Correspondent for many years.

Survivors include her son, Leonard Schenk, Jr. and wife, Donna; sister, Dorothy Meurer; brother, Jerry Hoffman; three granddaughters, Shelbie Belz and husband, Greg, Stacie Watson and husband, Ricky and Christie Bowen, and husband, Donnie; two grandsons, Kevin Conrady and David Conrady; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by daughter, Louise and husband, Leslie Conrady; daughter-in-law, Gail Schenk; grandson, Monte Schenk; and brother, Robert Hoffman.
