The Archer City Country Club recently had two players hit a hole in one on the course. Jimmy Davis (top) hit his first ever hole in one on hole #1 on Labor Day at 8:15 a.m. Witnesses were Llyod Wells and David Eispanner. Mitchell Roberts (bottom) hit a hole in one on Hole #8, which is 184 yards, on Oct. 10 at 3:56 p.m. Witnesses were Kyle Wyatt, Mike Coker and Jeff Forester.

Red Ribbon Week from Oct. 23-31

Red Ribbon Week raises awareness of drug use and the problems related to drugs facing our community, and encourages parents, educators, business owners, and other community organizations to promote drug-free lifestyles.

DSHS Holliday Flu shot clinic

The Texas Department of State Health Services will be holding an immunization clinic in Holliday at First Baptist Church on Oct. 27. Flu shots will be available as well as other immunizations. The clinic will be by appointment only, no walk-ins will be accepted. Please call the Archer City DSHS office at 940-574-2159 to schedule an appointment. Masks are required and all clients/ guardians will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms upon entry to the facility.

Improvements to Scotland City Park in the works

Travelers headed south on U.S. 281 are welcomed to the City of Scotland with a neat and wellkept sign. The sign is just before the ball field on the west side of the highway. Just west of the ball fields is the Scotland City Park.

Archer County COVID-19 update

Archer County Judge Randy Jackson announced the county had 106 positive cases with five of them being active as of Tuesday, Oct 20. The county also has reported one COVID-19 related fatality.

Archer County Sheriff’s Weekly Report

The Sheriff’s Office received 121 Calls for Service during the past seven day period ending Sunday, Oct. 11. On the day of this report there were 25 individuals incarcerated in the Archer County Jail consisting of 23 men and two women. 30 individuals consisting of 18 men and 12 women were arrested and booked into the Archer County Jail during the month of September, 2020.
