The apostle Paul was rotting away in prison when he writes to the church at Corinth. Paul’s enemies must have been gloating. They tried everything to silence Paul. You would think that the last thing Paul would be thinking of is others. After all most people would be thinking of how they would mount a defense against the charges leveled against them, and feeling sorry for the persecution they suffered. But, then again, very few people thought like Paul. In II Corinthians 4: 15-18, Paul wrote: “All this is for your benefit, so that the grace reaching me and more people may cause Thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God. Therefore, we do not lose heart though on the outside we are wasting away; inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles (emphasis on mine) are achieving for eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So, we fix our eyes on not what is seen but unseen, since what is seen is temporary and what is unseen is eternal.”

Eighth-ranked Holliday popped a pair of long touchdown runs that proved to be the difference as the Eagles edged the Hawks 18-7. New Eagles head coach Kyle Atwood picked up his first win in his coaching debut with the Red and White.

After a tumultuous offseason, it had to feel good for Archer City head coach Bradan Ritchey to finally get his team back to football. His Wildcats dominated in all three facets of the game, cruising to a 44-8 win over Quanah in the season opener on Friday, Aug. 25.

The fourth-ranked Windthorst Trojanettes are fresh off another 7-1 week which culminated in another championship at Nocona’s Buckle Up for Lane’s Sake tournament this past weekend. With the tournament slate now in the books, Windthorst has built up a 23-2 record.

Windthorst freshman quarterback Brock Belcher and senior wide receiver Kolby Teakell already have a special connection on the gridiron. The duo hooked up time and time again as Windthorst held off Henrietta, 37-34, in the season opener on Fri., Aug. 25.

The Archer County Commissioner’s Court met with Archer City Mayor Jake Truette to discuss the future of the ambulance in Archer City in a special called Commissioner’s Court meeting on Friday, Aug. 18.

Windthorst’s Heather Stark is a legend. From becoming a four-time all-state player, leading the Trojanettes to a four year record of 105-16 – which included a state runner-up finish in 2001 – to becoming a four-time all-conference selection at the University of Texas to most recently becoming a Hall of Honor inductee with the Longhorns, Stark has left a legacy wherever she has been.
