Mary Jo Wolf Russe, age 91, of Scotland, Texas passed away, Monday, March 18, 2024, in Senior Care of Wichita Falls.

Vigil Service and Rosary were held at 7 p.m. Friday, March 22, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Windthorst. Mass was be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 23, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Scotland with Reverend Michael Moloney, OFS, Pastor of St. Mary’s and St. Boniface Catholic Church and Father Jerome Ward, long-time family friend, of Fort Worth, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.

Mary Jo was born Nov. 15, 1932 in Windthorst, to the late Anton Nick Wolf, Sr. and Mary Francisco Teichman Wolf.

She attended school in Windthorst before moving to Dumas where she raised her family.

Mary Jo married Edgar “Charles” Weatherred on April 21, 1956 in Amarillo. He preceded her in death in 2000. She then married Herb Russe who also preceded her in death.

Mary Jo was a homemaker throughout her life. She enjoyed entertaining, gardening and cake decorating, where she received numerous awards. Mary Jo often hosted card games with many tables set up throughout her home. She especially loved her Thursday outings of eating dinner and shopping with her friends. Mary Jo was a people person and never met a stranger. She was very quick witted with a great sense of humor.

She had a very close knit family and loved them fiercely. Mary Jo was loyal in every relationship of her life, with both family and friends, but most importantly Jesus. She loved Jesus and had a very strong faith even though she endured many hardships in her lifetime. Mary Jo prayed the rosary daily and wore many, many rosaries out.

Mary Jo was a longtime member of the Catholic Church, including Saints Peter and Paul in Dumas, Sacred Heart in Wichita Falls and St. Boniface in Scotland.

Survivors include two daughters, Martha Ames and husband, Tom of Canyon, Texas and Christine Loran and husband, Anthony of Seymour, Texas; two sisters, Rosie Atchley-Conner of Wichita Falls and Helen Ann Hemmi and husband, Art of Scotland; two brothers, Jim Wolf and wife, Lois and John Wolf and wife, Lillie all of Windthorst; sister-in-law, Gladys Wolf of Windthorst; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Kim Halsell and husband, John of Wichita Falls; son-in-law, Mack Henson of Amarillo; her much loved and very numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends and neighbors who checked on her daily.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Roger Weatherred; one daughter, Diana Henson; two sisters, Dorothy Schreiber and husband, Bill and Francis Schroeder and husband, Alois; one brother, Anton “Tony” Wolf, and brothers-in-law, Charles Atchley and Ike Conner.

The family suggests memorials to the Scotland Volunteer Fire Department.
