Archer County Sheriff’s Weekly Report

The Sheriff’s Office received 93 Calls for Service during the past seven day period ending Sunday, Dec. 6. On the day of this report there was 28 individuals incarcerated in the Archer County Jail consisting of 22 men and six women. During the month of November, 31 individuals were arrested and booked into the Archer County Jail consisting of 26 men and five women.

Holliday Elementary claims district championship

Holliday Elementary School took first place in its Academic UIL District Meet, competing against City View and Nocona. The Eagles won with 887 points, over 500 points better than runner-up City View (371 points) and 600 points better than Nocona (223 points).

Murray named to TGCA All-Star Game

Holliday’s Payton Murray picked up state recognition, earning a spot on the TGCA All-Star Blue team. She joins a squad comprised of 1A through 4A players from across the state. Murray led the Lady Eagles with 265 kills and 166 blocks. File photo

Salvation Army branch meets community needs

The Salvation Army is a massive international organization, yet in Archer City there is a small but mighty branch making a difference in the lives of its residents. The mission of the Salvation Army is “to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination,” and the local board is committed to doing just that.
Donna Williams, secretary at First Baptist Church of Archer City, organizes Angel Tree presents. Usually housed at the library, the Angel Tree has moved primarily online this year. Those who prefer to pick up a paper angel may do so at the church. Unwrapped gifts and donations are due Dec. 15. Photo/Jenny Schroeder
