Lady Cats drop pair against Lady Pirates, miss trifecta

Body
The Archer City Lady Cats were district champs in volleyball last fall and in basketball this winter. The Lady Cats had not lost a district game in any of the three team sports. Last Saturday, they had a chance to complete the trifecta with perfect district records, but the Petrolia Lady Pirates were standing in the way. Archer City had beat Petrolia 12-7 back on Tuesday, March 30 to set up the final showdown in the last district matchup of the regular season.

On May 5, Mexico will celebrate one of its most important patriotic holidays, known simply as Cinco de Mayo. It marks the victory of Mexico over France at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. It was an improbable victory against overwhelming odds. Above all, it is a day remembered for courage. This special day for Mexico is a day made possible by the daring and valor of a native Texan, Gen. Ignacio Zaragoza.

Texasville Opry returns to Royal Theater May 8 after 14-month absence due to COVID-19

Body
COVID-19 hit everybody hard, including the Royal Theater. After the February 2020 show, which opened the 20th season of The Texasville Opry, things came to a screeching halt when society basically shut down due to the virus outbreak. Gary Beesinger, producer and emcee for the show, said he really had no option but to put the show on ice, hoping they could reopen in the fall of 2020 and complete the season. But that didn’t happen.
