Archer City student awarded $16,000 Phillips 66 scholarship

One student from the Archer City area is among the 49 high school seniors across the nation who will each receive $16,000 college scholarships from the Phillips 66 Dependent Scholarship Program. The competitive program is open to outstanding college-bound students whose parents work for Phillips 66 and certain of its subsidiary companies.

Cy Belcher: Valedictorian Scholarship, A renewable Outstanding Freshman, renewable Top 10% and renewable Valedictorian Scholarship all from Midwestern State University, Bingo Kinder Scholarship, Remember the Vietnam War Scholarship, All Sports Booster Club, Top of Texas Football Scholarship, Michelle Berend Cannedy Memorial Scholarship, Monte Schenk Memorial Scholarship and Windthorst National Honors Society. Cy also received the Honor Award in English.

The Holliday Lady Eagles (36-1) made school history, downing Lamesa 9-3 and 27-4, to advance to the regional finals for the first time where a familiar foe awaits. “It feels like it’s time (for the program to make its first trip to the regional finals),” senior catcher Taylor Gillit said.
