The Archer County Commissioner’s Court voted to extend county burn ban for another 30 days during its meeting Monday, Oct. 25.

Midwestern State University will host a ribbon cutting and open house for the Charlye O. Farris Social Justice Resource Center (Farris SJRC) from 3:30-5 p.m. Friday, October 29, at the center located in Bea Wood Hall near the Jesse W. Rogers Promenade. The center is a hub for education, advocacy, and training in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).

The Archer County Commissioner’s Court approved an expenditure of $23,611 from the American Rescue Plan funds to the Archer County Rodeo Association for funds lost from not having the 2020 Archer County Rodeo due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Sheriff’s Office received 105 calls for service this week. As this report is being written there are 17 inmates with four being female in the Archer County Jail.

Archer City ISD Ag Teacher and FFA Advisor Tanner Hash provided an update to the school board regarding the dog attack which killed pig projects at the Archer County Show Barn Saturday, Oct. 9.

The Archer City defense forced six turnovers as the Wildcats blew past Munday, 49-7. The Wildcats improve to 5-2 overall and 3-0 in district after winning their third-straight contest.
