God Will Take Care of You

Body
During my first pastorate, a group from the church I pastored would go to a local nursing home on the first Monday of every month and sing gospel songs with the residents. There were specific songs that they always chose for us to sing and one of those songs was “God Will Take Care of You.” I’m sure the song was chosen for the reassuring message that it brought to them in the final years of their lives. Maybe today, you need to be reassured of God’s provision for you, also. Consider the comforting message of the song written by Civilia D. Martin: “Be not dismayed whate’er betide, God will take care of you; Beneath his wings of love abide, God will take care of you.”

Murray provides spark for Lady Eagles

Body

It’s really hard not to have favorites in this profession. Seeing these kids achieve their goals week in and week out while playing with a passion so intense it easily rubs off on everyone around them.

Holliday’s Payton Murray is one of my favorites.

You can always find her breaking out new dance moves in warm-ups or smiling after smashing a big kill for the Lady Eagles. Murray attributes all that energy to nerves.

Thank you to Donna Haile for her donations in memory of Virginia Cox and Aquilla Brake. “Every catastrophe begins with a little problem that doesn’t get fixed.” So says Pauline Green, president of the United States, in Follett’s nerve-racking drama of international tension.

Texas History Minute

Texas universities have produced many interesting political figures. Perhaps one of the most unusual journeys was that of University of Texas graduate Fernando Belaunde. Belaunde earned a Texas architectural license, became a noted architect, and was twice elected president of Peru, surviving a military coup in the process.
