This was not just the scene at Wildcat Gym on Friday night but also at the Archer City Head Start program Thursday, May 19, as the program graduated six pre-k students onto the ‘big school’ of Kindergarten at Archer City ISD.

Holliday ISD showed off its completed addition and renovation to its band hall during an open house event Tuesday, May 17. The 10,614 square foot addition and renovation were paid out of the general fund and the school board did not take out any debt for the district to fund the project.

High School Principal Roy Longcrier was voted the 2021-2022 Windthorst Secondary Employee of the Year on Thursday, May 19. High school teacher Stacy Wolf presented Longcrier with the award during break in front of all of the secondary students and staff.

The Archer City Public Library and Holliday Public Library are preparing to start up their Summer Reading Programs in the next couple of weeks as it seek to promote literacy and continued education among the county youth.

Mark Harrelson of Van Buren Arkansas, age 62, passed away Thursday, May 19, following an automobile accident that took place on April 13 in Houston. Services will be held at 10 a.m.

Saturday May 21st. All the air conditioners were turned off that morning. Fans were left on to circulate air. When I got home after work the air inside the house was warmer than outside. I opened the bedroom window to let the outside air come in.

The Sheriff’s Office received 189 calls for service this past week. As this report is being written there are 30 inmates and 6 being female in the Archer County Jail.
