A pair of turnovers in the final five minutes of regulation spelled disaster for the upset-minded Windthorst Trojans in a 3228 regional semifinal loss to Collinsville on Friday in Springtown. Windthorst (8-5) saw its 2022 campaign come to an end despite playing its best game of the year.

It seems to me that the worldly beginning of the Christmas holidays starts earlier and earlier each year, and we cannot celebrate a holiday without immediately moving on to the next. Last week a friend on Facebook stated that Christmas does not begin until Santa Claus arrives at the end of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

It was another historic year on the volleyball hardwood for all three Archer County programs. Windthorst won its record-breaking 14th volleyball championship, Holliday advanced to the regional finals for the third-straight season and Archer City continued its playoff streak.

Martha Ellen (Zotz) Wolf, age 82, of Windthorst passed away Friday, Nov. 25, at Brookdale Senior Living Solutions, under the care of Hospice of Wichita Falls.

Kenneth Ray Triplett

Kenneth Ray Triplett, 68, of Gainesville, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Nov. 18, 2022. He was born in Chickasha, Okla. in 1954 to parents, Kenneth Roe Triplett and Alta June Triplett. He was raised in Archer City where he played football and got into plenty of mischief. Kenneth spent many years working in the oilfield in Texas and Oklahoma. He also worked for 15 years at the Gainesville State School. Kenny was also a part time farmer who raised cattle, horses, pigs and chickens. He loved being out in the pasture and even trained horses for a small time. He retired from Select Energy Services in 2015. Kenny could outwork anyone using a 6-pound sledgehammer.
