The Archer Public Library’s Summer Reading Program is here! From June 1st – July 31st, kids can enter the library’s reading contest for a chance to win their own Kindle E-Reader. 1-hour read = 1 entry into the drawing. Also, the library will be hosting four summer reading performances live at the Royal Theater! We’ll have animals, puppets, balloons, science, and more! Also, don’t miss your chance to sign up for Art Camp- happening on Wednesdays at the library for ages 9 and up. Stop by the library for more details on everything happening this summer!

It was another dominant season on the softball diamond for Archer County. Holliday gave the eventual state champs all they could handle, Windthorst went several rounds deep and Archer City continued its playoff streak. These kids deserve all the recognition they can get for all their hard work.

Holliday ISD restructures board

The Holliday ISD School Board reorganized its officers at the scheduled meeting on Monday, May 12. Blake Jurecek relinquished his presidency, passing the baton off to Christy Koski while Bubba Turner gave up his vice presidency to David Foster.

Ray Edward Berend

Ray Edward Berend was gifted to be born into the family of Lawrence and Helen Berend of Windthorst, on July 22, 1945. He was number three of six which most likely explained his penchant for negotiation. Windthorst was his home until he left to attend the University of Dallas later transferring to St Mary’s University where he earned his accounting degree, and subsequently went to work for Padgett & Padgett, later becoming its managing partner and owner of Padgett, Stratemann and Co.
