The Sheriff’s Office received 152 calls for service this past week. As this report is being written there are 28 inmates and 3 being female in the Archer County Jail.

After the great loss to the Holliday Assembly of God congregation and an unbelievable loss to his wife, Theresa, the loss to the community of Holliday where he served for more than 10 years, Rev Mike Wells is greatly missed by all who knew him.

The rumors of Holliday’s demise have been greatly exaggerated. The Eagles (8-1, 4-0) moved the ball up and down Veteran’s Field, rolling to a 47-22 win over City View (5-4, 2-2) to give Holliday its fourth-straight district title and first under new head coach Kyle Atwood.

Windthorst mauled No. 9 Seymour, 54-22, to clinch at least a share of the district title on Friday, Oct.

The Archer City Wildcats (4-4) just might be the most dangerous four seed in the Class 2A, Division 1 playoff bracket. They still have a matchup with the Munday Moguls this Friday night, but they will be heavily favored to lock down a playoff spot with a fourth place finish in District 7.

In a game that was rescheduled a week later, Windthorst defeated Archer City 25-14, 258, 25-5, to complete an undefeated run through district on Friday, Oct. 27.

Windthorst began its quest for back-to-back state titles with a dominant three-set bi-district win over DeLeon in Mineral Wells on Monday, Oct. 30.

Archer City put up a fight against Hico in its bi-district match on Tuesday, Oct. 31, in Weatherford, but had its season come to an end at the claws of the Tigers.

While the Lady Eagles still have the gold ball trophies from the most recent postseason runs, many of the players who won those trophies have graduated.
