The Windthorst ISD school board reviewed the district’s Texas Academic Performance Report in a public hearing during its meeting on Monday, Jan. 8.

The Archer County Commissioner’s Court approved a substantial number of contracts and orders to get the joint March primaries ready during its meeting on Monday, Jan. 8.

The Archer City Wildcats traveled the short drive to Windthorst for their basketball tournament on Thursday Dec. 28 and Friday Dec. 29. After falling to their first two opponents, the Wildcats recuperated and won their final two games, ending the tournament with a 2-2 record. No individual stats were reported from these games.

The Windthorst Trojans welcomed a host of teams to their varsity basketball tournament on Thursday, Dec. 28. and Friday December 29. The Trojans performed well, going 3-1 and having two players named to the all-tournament team.

In my introductory column, I spoke of the vision of Holliday Assembly of God’s former pastor, Rev. Mike Wells. His dream was the beginning of the Harvest Food Ministry. It is continuing to operate and expand the number of people being served on a monthly basis.

The Windthorst Trojanettes hosted a variety of basketball teams from around the area for their tournament on Thursday Dec. 28 and Friday Dec. 29. The Trojanettes played sound basketball, finishing with a 3-1 record and having two players on the all-tournament team.

The Archer City Lady Cats participated in the second annual Electra Grand Basketball Tournament on Thursday Dec. 28 and Friday Dec. 29, dominating the competition all the way to the championship round, where they lost a close matchup to the Electra Lady Tigers.

Matthew Lynn 'Matt' Jackson, age 62, of Scotland, passed away Dec. 18, in Grapevine, after a courageous battle against cancer.
