Wood helped Holliday’s title defense by leading the team with 13.1 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.2 steals per game. The senior scored in double figures in 23 contests while dropping a season-high 25 points against City View on Jan. 12. Wood makes her second appearance on the ACN Super Team after claiming District 7-3A MVP honors.

Holliday FFA competed in the Area contest on Wednesday, April 10, and advanced its Ag Mechanics team to the state competition. Ag Mechanics: 1st in district and 1st in Area and will advance to the State Competition! Kayden Bullington was the high point individual of the entire contest and Thomas McRae was 3rd highest individual.

Bryce Palmer is a wizard with numbers. After a sixth place finish at the UIL State Academic competition a year ago, the Holliday senior has his sights set on a bigger prize than the state championship in 2024.

Sales tax returns rise

The cities of Archer City, Holliday, Scotland and Windthorst saw an increase in sales tax in April than they did in the same time frame in 2023. Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced on April 10 that he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.03 billion in local sales tax allocations for April 5.5 percent more than in April 2023.

The City of Scotland is sponsoring a Town Clean-Up on Saturday, April 20. This is a free service. All residents are encouraged to clean up their property and place items into the large dumpsters located at the Scotland Trash Collection Center on Avenue I behind the fire department. The gates will be open Saturday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. or until dumpsters are full. Once the dumpsters reach capacity, the gates will be locked. Please do not put items outside the fence or throw items over the fence. Also, below is a list of items NOT accepted at any Texas landfill:
