Sales tax rebates drop for state in March

The cities of Holliday, Scotland and Windthorst saw an increase in sales tax in March than they did in the same time frame in 2023. Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced on March 2 that he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $980.9 million in local sales tax allocations for March 2.2 percent less than in March 2023.

Trojanettes fall to solid pitching from Lady Cats

The close matchup between the Windthorst Trojanettes and the Archer City Lady Cats on Tuesday, March 26 could be a peek of what’s to come for the next few years, as both teams feature a majority of freshman and sophomore players in their lineups. The first meeting between these two young squads didn’t see a lot of runs scored but saw the potential that each team possesses.

Canada pitches third shutout in district

In an away game against the Olney Lady Cubs on March 29, Good Friday, freshman pitcher Addi Canada notched her third shutout victory in district, dominating Olney on the mound in a 14-0 route. The Lady Cats were 4-0 in district heading into the contest and looked to sweep the series after their last matchup versus the Lady Cubs ended in an 11-0 shutout win.
