The Windthorst ISD school board approved a donation from the parent teacher group to provide a facelift to the outdoor basketball/tennis court during its meeting on Monday, June 10. Parent Teacher Group Officer Hillary Wolf said the group had been working on this project for months and getting feedback from room parents on what the donation could be best used for.

Holliday City Council looks to form RV “task force”

The Holliday City Council moved to assemble a committee “whose goal will be to research rules and regulations of the construction and regulations of RV Parks” on Monday, June 10. This decision came after last Monday’s Public Hearing over the annexation of the property located at FM 368 (901 N. West Ave), which was planned to be an RV Park built by Dylan Rogers.

ACMAC Jailbird fundraiser raises almost $50,000

This last weekend concluded the Archer County Museum’s second annual Jailbird Fundraiser. The museum rounded up 80 individuals from around Archer County to turn themselves in and be imprisoned in the 1910 Archer County Jail. While most of the fundraiser was virtual, several jailbirds gathered on Friday to get their photos taken in the old jail.

Whether it be in football, volleyball, basketball, baseball, or softball, Archer City, Windthorst, and Holliday have a knack for developing athletes that lead their teams to victory and even find success at the next level. One former Windthorst Trojanette fits that mold perfectly, basketball phenom Tatum Veitenheimer.

Softball and Baseball All State Nominations

Several high school softball and baseball players from Archer County were named to their respective all-state teams following the 23-24 season. For softball, Holliday’s Kinley Marek and Jordan Peters earned the Texas Girls Coaches Association 3A honors, while Holliday’s Cooper Turner and Isaac Villa (3A), and Windthorst’s Conner Schreiber (2A) took home honors from the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association.
