The Lakeside City Council heard a presentation on the state of the city’s roads and how to improve them during its council meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 25.
The first weekend of spring break in Archer City—March 8 and 9—offers an exciting lineup of activities around the square for local denizens as well as tourists from near and far. These include the preview opening of the Larry McMurtry Literary Center, an open house at Aulds Classic Cars and a Texasville Opry performance at the Royal Theater. It is a triad of classic collections: of books, cars and music.
After rattling off a pair of close wins in the first two rounds of the playoffs, the Holliday Eagles’ postseason run came to end after a tight overtime matchup with the Slaton Tigers on Tuesday, Feb. 25 in Haskell.
From Thursday, Feb. 27 to Saturday, Mar. 1, the Archer City Lady Cats, Holliday Lady Eagles, and the Windthorst Trojanettes participated in the Iowa Park Softball Invitational held in Iowa Park, as well as the Wichita Falls Softball Complex. All three teams took on a variety of opponents, ranging from 2A all the way to 5A.
The Holliday Eagles, Archer City Wildcats, and the Windthorst Trojans all competed in baseball tournaments from Thursday, Feb. 27 to Saturday, March 1.
The Holliday Lady Eagles and the Jacksboro Tigerettes faced off in the first district softball series of the year on Tuesday, Feb. 25 and Saturday, Mar. 4. After dropping the first game to the Tigerettes in Jacksboro, Holliday climbed back late in the second game to even the series at 1-1.
