With successful seasons from the three county high school teams in baseball and softball, All-State nominations are expected to follow. A total of eight county athletes received All-State recognition, three more than last season, showing off the amount of talent in Archer County.

ACISD votes no on allowing homeschool participation

The Archer City ISD school board voted against allowing homeschool students to participate in extracurricular activities during its board meeting on Monday, July 28. Senate Bill 401 now requires school districts to pass policy stating that they will not allow non-enrolled students to participate in extra-curricular activities or they will be allowed to participate in school activities.

Commissioner's Court approves elected officals, employees salaries

The Archer County Commissioner’s Court approved the elected officials and employees’ salaries during a pair of meetings on Friday, July 25, and Monday, July 28. During the July 25 meeting, the court unanimously voted to give a 7% raise to the base salary of the county clerk, district clerk, county tax assessor-collector, county treasurer, sheriff, justice of the peace precinct one, JP pct.

Archer City purchases new emergency sirens

The Archer City council approved purchasing a new emergency siren and encoders during its council meeting on Thursday, July 24. City Manager Ronnie Meyer said there was lightning strike on the siren on Oak Street behind the Evergreen apartments.
