Fans had to wait a little extra time due to a lightning delay on Thursday, Oct. 23, but what followed for the faithful was a classic district matchup between the Holliday Eagles and the City View Mustangs.

By Landon Davis The Trojans’ district streak of blowout wins continued on Friday, Oct. 24 as they trounced the Haskell Indians 5214.

The three county teams closed out the regular season with varying results. On Tuesday, Oct. 21, the Lady Cats and the Lady Eagles recorded wins while the Trojanettes dropped a tight contest to Nocona.

The Archer City Wildcats were one of the few high school football teams in the area to brave the weather on Friday, Oct. 24.

Early voting is underway for the Nov. 4 constitutional amendments election where voters will voice their opinion on 17 proposed constitutional amendments.

In a Battle of the Birds, the Eagles set a season-high in points on Friday, Oct. 17, plucking district opponent Valley View 71-6.

Archer City 3 Olney 2 The Lady Cats secured their spot for the playoffs after a tight 3-2 win over the Lady Cubs on Tuesday. After they took the first set 25-19, Olney snatched the next two sets (12-15, 2125) to go up by a set.

The rematch between the Archer City Lady Cats and the Windthorst Trojanettes on Friday, Oct. 17 was very similar to their meeting earlier in the season, with the two battling out for three close sets.

The Archer City Wildcats have struggled with untimely turnovers all season, and Friday’s home district matchup against the Haskell Indians was no different. A fumble by the Wildcats on the opening kickoff gave the Indians field position on Archer City’s 34yard line.
