This free section allowed 300 words or less for candidates in the upcoming election to provide information about themselves for voters to make an informed decision. The remainder of the bios were published in the Feb. 12 edition. Early voting in the March Primary Election started Tuesday, Feb. 17, and end Friday, Feb. 27.

The Sheriff’s Office has received 494 calls for service in this past two weeks. As this report is being written there are 25 inmates 2 being female in the Archer County Jail.

Sales tax revenue increases for four cities

Holliday, Lakeside City, Scotland and Windthorst saw increase in tax revenue in February 2026 than it had in February 2025. Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock announced he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.5 billion in local sales tax allocations for February, 2.5 percent more than in February 2025.
