The Holliday Eagles had one final district series to secure their spot in the Class 3A-D1 playoffs. A win over the Jacksboro Tigers on Tuesday, April 21 or Friday, April 24 guaranteed the No. 2 seed, while a loss put them in a play-in with the Bowie Jackrabbits.

The Lakeside City Council discussed preliminary plans and costs for a citywide 250th Fourth of July celebration during its meeting on Tuesday, April 21. Resident Kristen Yancey said she had begun preliminary plans for the event a few weeks prior to the council meeting.

During the Archer County Commissioner's Court meeting, Monday, April 27, Archer County Sheriff's Deputies Jesse Fleitman and Seargent Kelly Perry were recognized with the Tree of Life Award by Transtar Ambulance for their lifesaving efforts during an event on April 4.

For the third straight-season, the Archer City Lady Cats mopped up their competition to sweep in the Bi-District round of the 2A softball playoffs. This year’s unlucky contestant was the Nocona Lady Indians.

The Windthorst Trojanettes had a tall task for their Bi-District round series on Thursday, April 23, and Saturday, April 25 in Bowie. Their reward for finishing second in District 9-2A and taking the second seed in the Division 2 bracket was the stateranked Muenster Lady Hornets.

Postseason softball is upon Archer County, and the Holliday Lady Eagles rang in the Bi-District round with a series sweep over the Eastland Lady Mavs on Thursday, April 23, and Friday, April 24. The series wasn’t particularly close, with the Lady Eagles outscoring the Lady Mavs 36-6.

The Archer City ISD school board discussed the costs of retrofitting its bus fleet with threepoint seatbelts during its meeting on Monday, April 27. Superintendent Jon Hartgraves said the discussion is required following the passage of Senate Bill 546, which requires all school busses to be equipped with three-point seatbelts by Sept.

The Archer County Commissioners Court met Monday, April 27, with representatives of the proposed data center project on Three Way Road, known as Project Raptor, during its regular meeting. A small group of residents attended to hear from project representatives.

Brenda Gail Meyer Goforth, age 64, of Archer City, Texas passed away Saturday, April 25, 2026, in Hospice of Wichita Falls. Services were held at 2 p.m.
