The voters of Scotland passed a special election proposition to legalize the sale of all alcoholic beverages, including mixed drinks, within the city in a May 2 election. Sixty-Five voters, or 89.04%, were in favor of the proposition while eight voters, or 10.96%, were against the proposition.

The Wichita Falls Area Food Bank has launched a fundraising campaign to build a new distribution and education center aimed at expanding access to nutritious food and providing nutrition education across a 12-county region.

For the last five track season, the Holliday Lady Eagles have owned the 3A-Region I meet. On Friday, May 1 and Saturday, May 2 at Elmer Gray Stadium in Abilene, they maintained the status quo by winning the meet with a score of 92, 25 points ahead of second-place Wall (67).

The Holliday Lady Eagles won their Area round battle with Merkel by a combined 22-2 in the twogame series on Wednesday, April 29 in Graford. In addition to the stellar sweep, the Lady Eagles also broke a five-year Area-round losing streak.

The Archer City Wildcats’ baseball season came to a close on Wednesday, April 29 in City View in the their Bi-District round matchup against the Nocona Indians. The Wildcats and the Indians were entrenched in a true Pitcher’s Duel for Game 1.

The Archer City Lady Cats had a steep hill to climb for their Area-round matchup on Wednesday, April 29 and Thursday, April 30 as they took on the 2A-D2 No. 7 Honey Grove Lady Warriors at Darwin Field on North Central Texas College campus in Gainesville.

The Holliday Eagles’ hopeful baseball season came to an end on Wednesday, April 29 in Graford. After stumbling out of the gates at the start of district play, the Eagles clawed their way back to earn the final playoff spot for District 7-3A.
