Archer County Sheriff’s Weekly Report

The Sheriff’s Office received 110 Calls for Service during the past seven day period ending Sunday, Aug. 30. On the day of this report there were 30 individuals incarcerated in the Archer County Jail consisting of 27 men and three women.

Around 11:30 a.m. Monday morning, a Megargel resident reported that a female came to her door posing as a Census Taker. The woman said she had the woman on video camera. A Deputy spoke with the caller and followed up on the suspicious woman. It was verified that the woman was indeed a Census Taker and no further action was taken.

Around 2 p.m. Monday afternoon, a Windthorst City leader reported that someone had stolen street signs in the area of Zotz Rd and Trojan Rd. Stop signs and street signs were reported as the signs that have been taken. Anyone with information about this theft is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office.

Around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, the clerk at a Megargel convenience store reported that someone had broken into the store overnight due to the front glass door being shattered when she arrived for work. Deputies responded and met with the clerk to go inside. A search was conducted and the only thing that seemed to be missing was money that was hidden in a secret location inside the store. Video from the store was produced that showed a male subject enter the store and retrieve the money which indicates the suspect is someone with knowledge about where the money was hidden. A suspect has been developed and Deputies are investigating.

Shortly after 7 p.m. Tuesday night, a Holliday man reported that there was a man at his home cussing and throwing things at him. When asked what the man was wearing the caller said he didn’t know other than the man was lying on his couch with no shirt. Deputies and Holliday Police responded and found the suspect a short distance away at FM 368 and Maple St. The man was issued a barred person’s notice to stay away from the caller’s residence.

Around 11 a.m. Wednesday morning, a Deputy patrolling near Hwy. 79 and Kemp Street observed a vehicle without a license plate turn and travel north on Kemp. The Deputy attempted to stop the vehicle and it travelled a while before stopping. The three occupants, two males and a female, were checked for warrants. The female was found to be wanted out of Archer County for Failure to Appear on a Felony Evading charge. She was placed under arrest and transported to the Archer County Jail. The vehicle was impounded due to several violations. The woman was released the following day after posting a $10,000 bond.

Around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, a woman reported she had received photos on a social media site from a male subject that showed a 9mm handgun on the dash of his vehicle and one that showed the male holding the gun under his chin. She advised the man was parked in his vehicle in the parking lot on U.S. 281. Deputies and a DPS Trooper responded and attempted to make speak with the man. MHMR was contacted but would not come to the scene however they did speak with the man on the phone. After about an hour Officers were able to talk the man down and retrieve his weapon and his vehicle. He was transported to the Crisis Unit in Wichita Falls for further assessment.

Around 10 a.m. Thursday morning, a Holliday man reported that his adult son was in his home and he had previously been barred from the residence. He requested Officers remove the man from his home. Holliday Police responded and arrested the man for Criminal Trespass. He was transported to the Archer County Jail where he remains in custody with a $7,500 bond.

Just before 11 a.m. Thursday morning, a woman staying with friends in Archer City reported that she and the man she was staying with at Lake Kickapoo had parted ways and he had dropped off all her property at the Archer City location. When the woman started going through her property, she observed bleach had been poured on her clothes, photographs, and other property. All the items were still wet with the bleach when a Deputy arrived to speak with the woman. A warrant for the man’s arrest for Criminal Mischief over $2,500 and he was arrested later that day at his Lake Kickapoo home. He was released the following day after posting a $15,000 bond.

Around 5:30 a.m. early Friday morning, a Deputy stopped a vehicle in the parking lot of an Archer City business after receiving information that the occupants appeared to be intoxicated. The Deputy made contact with three male subjects, two of the males were 26 year old identical twins. One of the twins was found to be wanted out of Maryland however that state would not extradite from Texas. A probable cause search produced fake urine found in containers belongings to the twins. They were placed under arrest for possessing a false drug testing device and transported to the Archer County Jail. Both men were released later in the day after posting a $5,000 bond each. Incidentally, the men’s last name is STONER.

Around 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon, a man called 911 and stated he was on a Greyhound Bus on US 82/277 at the Archer and Baylor County line. He advised that people on the bus were throwing gnats in his face and spraying some type of aerosol on him. He advised the bus was pulled over on the side of the road. A Deputy got on the phone with the caller and talked the man into giving the phone to the bus driver. The driver stated that the man was unstable and causing problems on the bus. Deputies arrived and the man was walking north on US 82/277. Deputies spoke with the man and convinced the man to stay on the bus to Wichita Falls. There was no further incident.

Just before 2 a.m. early Saturday morning, an Archer City resident reported a young male was knocking on her door asking for help. Archer City Police responded and spoke with the young man. He told the Officer someone he had been staying with pulled a gun on him. The Officer went to the residence where the two were staying but no one was there. They then went to another residence where several people had gathered and spoke with the stated suspect. That male subject stated they had all been at the house and the reporting person got into an argument with his girlfriend and left. All there denied a gun was involved. There was no evidence that a crime had occurred and no further investigation was needed.

Around 4 p.m. on Saturday, an Archer City man reported he had just struck his daughter with his vehicle by accident. Deputies, Archer City Police, and medical personnel responded to the woman’s Archer City residence and rushed the woman to a Wichita Falls hospital where she was later transported to a Dallas hospital for treatment of her injuries. There were no details on her condition at the time of this report. Please keep this woman and her family in your thoughts and prayers.

Around 7:30 a.m. Sunday morning, almost all of Archer City was without power due to electrical lines down on Elm St. in Archer City. Oncor responded and power was back on around 10:30 a.m.

Shortly after 10 a.m. Sunday morning, a report of terroristic threats was received between two men at an Archer City address. Deputies responded and spoke with the men. It started when the girlfriend of one of the men drove her vehicle to the other man’s home and caught a ride to work. Later, around 3:30 p.m., the girlfriend reported that her boyfriend was cussing and threatening her at their home. Officers responded and the two separated for the evening. Deputies were called back to the home around 5:30 p.m. after a friend of the man reported the man may be suicidal. Deputies responded and spoke with the man who claimed he wasn’t suicidal but did say he didn’t want to live like this anymore. The friend of the man came and took him for the evening with no further incident.
