Gerald Joseph Schreiber, age 68, of Windthorst, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024, in a Dallas hospital.

Vigil service and Rosary were held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Windthorst. Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 26, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Reverend Michael Moloney, OFS, Pastor of St. Mary’s and St. Boniface Catholic Church, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.

Gerald was born, the middle child of seven, to the late William George Schreiber and Dorothy Veronica Wolf Schreiber in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Gerald graduated from Windthorst High School. He then attended Ranger College where he played one year of baseball..

He married Debbie Schroeder on May 9, 1981 in Windthorst, Texas.

Gerald was a dairy farmer throughout his life. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Windthorst and the Knights of Columbus.

Gerald loved spending time with his children especially his grandchildren and following them in all of their activities. He enjoyed Texas sports including the Longhorns, the Trojans and the Trojanettes. He also loved hunting, fishing with his grandchildren and going to the casinos.

Gerald never met a stranger and could carry on a conversation with anyone. He was a jokester and enjoyed making people laugh.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie Schreiber of Windthorst; three daughters, Heather Schreiber Stark and husband, Dylan, Allison Schreiber Bussey and husband, Jake, and Marissa Schreiber George and husband, Corey, all of Windthorst; one son, Chad Schreiber and wife, Rebecca of Houston; ten grandchildren Jaxon, Aiden, Mason, Karsyn, Eli, Kendall, Jensen, Khyler, Grayson, and Curry; five brothers, Wade Schreiber, David Schreiber, Richard Schreiber and wife, Suzette, Stephen Schreiber and wife, Karen, and Daniel Schreiber and wife, Tracy, all of Windthorst; one sister, Annette Meurer and husband, Gerry.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister-in-law, Becky Schreiber.

Serving as pallbearers will be Casey Koetter, Drew Koetter, Chase Schreiber, Collin Schreiber, Nicholas Schreiber and Rusty Schroeder.
