James William “Jim” Simpson, age 74, of Wichita Falls, passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, at his residence.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Reverend Michael Moloney, OFS, Pastor of St. Mary’s and St. Boniface Catholic Church, officiating. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.

Jim was born Aug. 11, 1949 to the late Robert Edward Simpson and Marjorie Ruth Elsey Simpson in South Bend, Indiana.

He graduated from South Bend High School. After graduation, he proudly served in the Vietnam War in the United States Army from Jan. 2, 1968 until Dec. 16, 1970.

Jim married Linda Cassler on Aug. 17, 1968 and together they had two children, James William and Tamara Lyn “Tammy”. She preceded him in death. He then married Geneva Lynn Schroeder on July 14, 2007 in Windthorst.

Jim graduated from nursing school and earned his LVN license at the age of forty-five. He was a nurse for twenty years at the General Hospital which later became United Regional Health Care.

Jim loved golfing and watching all sports. Jim was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and an all-round good man.

Survivors include his wife, Geneva of Wichita Falls; two daughters, Tamara Lynn “Tammy” Mitchell of Waxahachie, Texas and Halley Schroeder of Wichita Falls; one son, Heath Schroeder and Destiny of Archer City; seven grandchildren, Courtney Cardwell, Tanner, Trista and Tarah Mitchell, Allyssa, Heather and Hunter Schroeder; three great-grandchildren, Brayden, Colter and Whitlyn; one sister, Sandy Hoctel and husband, Larry of Norwalk, Iowa.

Jim was also preceded in death by his son, James.

The family would like to thank Dora and Antoinette of Visiting Angels and Beyond Faith Hospice for all the love, help and concern for Jim over these difficult years.
