For many years, Gary Johnston Post 198 American Legion has sponsored a community Thanksgiving meal for any and all that wanted to show up. The Legion also delivered meals on wheels that day of up to 50 meals. "We wish to thank all the companies and individuals who have helped us do this," said Burk Morris, Commander of the Post.
Because of the coronavirus the Legion is not having the meal this year. "We do not want to be responsible for a super spreader event," said Morris.
In lieu of the Thanksgiving meal, the Legion donated $500 to the Archer Service Center to help them with its mission to provide tasty and nutritious meals to people in the community. Morris presented the check last week to Martha Wolf, Executive Director of the Center.
"If you say a prayer this Thanksgiving, don’t forget to mention all our courageous men and women serving in uniform all around the world," Morris added. "The Gary Johnston Post 198 wishes everyone a safe and happy Thanksgiving."
